A Breathe Too Late

In Uncategorized on March 8, 2021 at 12:10 am

I really enjoyed this book! I listened to it as an audiobook and was captured i the first paragraph. Seventeen year old Ellie dies by suicide but has an out of body experience retelling her story and putting together missing pieces of her memory before her last days. A deeply moving novel that focuses on life, death, friends and family and the hidden truth that everyone has a secret or fighting a battle. I gave this book a 4.0 on Goodreads because it resonates and touches certain issues that may help others. Make sure you are emotionally ready to read this book.

The New David Espinoza

In Uncategorized on March 7, 2021 at 11:49 pm

The New David Espinoza book was a good read. It brought the attention to different issues for youth, especially a male character. Fred Aceves does a wonderful job bringing the storyline together with different issues of bullying, steroids and family relationships. I enjoyed this books from beginning to end as you see the transformation of David from his summer of Senior year to the end as he propels himself to ensure enough gains to show off he is not just little but strong. Overrall I rated this book 4.0 because it brought a connection of what youth may do in a situation of bullying. Also, I loved the main male character prospective and the diversity of characters in the book.

Everything I Thought I Knew

In Uncategorized on February 19, 2021 at 11:19 pm

This story reminds me of the movie The Lake House with Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves. Honestly, I really liked this story until the ending left me heart broken. 17 year old Chloe collapses during cross country and finds out when she is in the hospital she will need a heart transplant. She finds a way to recuperate but with some hardships and secrecy from her parents that she took up surfing. Trying to re-identify with herself and what she wants in life with a little romance but in the end it just left me heart broken but maybe find a bit happiness in the near future. I did enjoy this book from beginning and middle but just a heart full of despair at the end just made me reevaluate life.

Hood

In Uncategorized on February 19, 2021 at 11:12 pm

A good development of a twist of a read about Robin Hood and his family. Though a loose re-telling of Robin Hood the character’s, friendship and adventure were all exciting to read. The daughter of Hood, which is unknown to her, is sent on a quest to find her father but is in for a true mystery and adventure of her own. The author wrote a good book but just didn’t quite do it for me as why I rated it 3 stars on Goodreads. However, it was a fun, fast read for anyone who enjoys a good re-telling of Robin Hood.

Admission

In Uncategorized on February 19, 2021 at 10:55 pm

When I started reading this story it had a faint familiar of the college scandal withLori Loughlin. However, there are differences to this novel as our heroine Chloe Wynn Berringer as no idea that her parents set her up with a college admission counselor that rewrites her college admission essay and photographs photoshopped. Chloe unaware of her parents involvement she had reason to doubt but she was too late.

Overall a real thought provoking subject, a mother and daughter relationship and sister that brings the full story to a well rounded perspective from the characters point of view. I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. All the characters brought together especially the younger sister. It is hard for some to see where they want to go and especially what they want to do with their lives. Incredible writing skills to the author with the character development and the storyline.

Cutoff

In Uncategorized on February 19, 2021 at 10:43 pm

In this live action thriller of adventure and survival skills a group of teenagers are contestants on a show. Sharing their secrets as they group together to find out what is really going on in this reality tv show. The Contestants struggle to find the truth of what happened to crew and the public as they search for answers when a terrible accident happens and no one is coming to rescue them.

It was a good story with will rounded characters but seemed there could of been more character development. There is slow development in the middle but through it all a great story to get into and to wake up in a new reality. An engaging story that is thought provoking at the end.

Hardwired

Quinn thinks he is a normal boy until he finds clues that unravels the truth. Fully being aware that he is A.I. he tries to find true friends and how humans have emotions and if he can have them too. This book was not that great for me but it was a good read to pass time by. Characters all came together but it just seemed that the main character could of had some more insightful attributions of humans and emotions compared to his self identity.

Chamomile Myles, a high school senior student, who travels between two universes of social life and personal life. However, she meets a friend Brendan, who helps her between two world’s and opens up a new road between them. She finds a balance between both worlds while learning some life lessons along the way. This book was not what I thought it would be. A good read as it flows along with an insightful story of love and friendship.

The Ravens

The Ravens by Kass Morgan and Danielle Paige is a book filled with sisterhood and witchcraft. An excellent way for the reader to delve into the college life of Kappa Rho Nu who is not the average sorority. The two main characters of Vivi Deveraux and Scarlett Winters come from different backgrounds but with a common interests. Each sister with her own issues as the book is told from different perspectives of Vivi and Scarlett. This was a fun addictive read if those that are interested in Sorority and sisterhood with a touch of witchcraft.
